Quatier Mozart is a tale that incorporates Cameroonian folklore and traditional wit. Directed by Jean-Pierre Bekolo, the film is in French with English subtitles. The story evolves around the not-very-sentimental education of a young school girl known a Queen of the Hood, who with assistance from the local sorceress, enters the body of a young man so that she can discover for herself the real sexual politics of the neighborhood. The film was awarded the Prix Afrique en Creation Cannes Film Festival (1992).
