Sign-up for Orientation detailsWelcome to the UH Hilo Vulcan Family! Orientation is more than just advising and registering for classes. Orientation will give you the tools you need to survive the first week of school. The registration fee for new, transfer or returning students is $75, which is separate from other fees that you have paid for this semester. This fee covers most of the activities outlined in this itinerary (unless otherwise specified). Please stop by the orientation check-in tables on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the Campus Center Plaza to pick up your survival packs before you go to the first session, "Good Morning UH Hilo" that starts at 9:00 am . November 2, 2009 is the first day to sign-up online for orientation. December 16, 2009 is the last day to sign-up for orientation. Once you have signed-up for orientation, there are NO REFUNDS. . Please note that the campus will be closed Monday, December 21, 2009 through Friday, January 1, 2010. Payments not received by Friday, December 18, 2009, will not be processed or posted until the week of January 4, 2010. For more information regarding campus closures, please go to: Campus Closures Students wishing to review their itinerary, may do so by logging into the orientation website. Please make sure you remember your username and password that will be e-mailed to you so that you may log back in. Please call the New Student Programs Office should you have any questions: 808-933-0732. Student Orientation Fee Waivers Student Orientation Fee Waivers are for students who may need additional financial assistance. To be eligible, students will need to write a one-page essay describing why they think orientation will be beneficial for them. Essays are due by Monday, November 30,2009 and can be submitted via e-mail to uhhntrso@hawaii.edu. There are a limited number of waivers available. The essays will be reviewed and awardees will be chosen by a peer selection committee. For more information contact the New Student Programs Office at 808-933-0732. |

Small Group Advising with Major Departments detailsThis advising session may be conducted in a group setting. Advisors from your major will introduce you to your new major, go over requirements for your major and provide class selection advice. Each department may go over major requirements and other requirements you should be aware of in preparation for registration. Please be sure to have your TCE available. Room locations will be listed on the advising sheet that will be included in your orientation packet that you will receive upon check-in. |

Take this personal guided tour with one of our friendly librarians. You'll never know when you'll need their help in the future! (This session repeats throughout the week if you are not able to make it at this time) |

Afterwards, you'll gather in groups to enjoy some pupus (appetizers) and talk story about our reactions, thoughts and feelings when it comes to relationships. |
