Placement Exams

Placement exams offered at different times during the year. Be sure to check with your faculty advisor or your major department to see if you will need to take these placement exams.

Chemistry Placement Exam

Students who enroll in the General Chemistry courses, CHEM 124/124D/124L (Lecture, Discussion & Lab), must pass the placement exam to remain in these classes. Be sure to have 2 pencils, a calculator, and you UH Student ID number. The exam will last 1 hour and no sign-up required.

 

Computer Competency

For students who intend to enroll in Business courses at UH Hilo. Visit the website for more information. REGISTRATION REQUIRED!

 

English Proficiency Test

Required for all students whose first language is not English. REGISTRATION REQUIRED!

 

Math Placement Exam

For students taking the placement exam: You must bring an ID card and a print card to print out result sheets. After taking the test, you must meet with math faculty. Math faculty will discuss your results, advise you to take appropriate math class, and enter placement exam results into the student information system, allowing you to register. You will not be able to register for a a math class without talking to an advisor about your placement exam scores.

 

Writing Placement Exam

Required for all students who must complete ENG 100 and have not received credit for ENG 100 from prior coursework. Visit the website to see if you must take this exam. REGISTRATION REQUIRED!
